Before we have our first consultation together, you will be required to fill in a health and nutrition questionnaire and send it back to me before your first appointment. Our first consultation will last for 60 minutes, during which I will take an extensive lifestyle and nutritional history from you. The programmes are fully supported by me but do involve accountability and homework to be completed by you.
Understanding Your Eating
New to Leaf Nutritional Therapy is a 6 session course which helps you to understand how you might be using food to manage feelings or situations in your life. As a licensed practitioner, I will work with you to explore how you use food in your life and how you can find alternative ways to cope without using food. This is not a diet or weight loss plan. I will not be weighing you or telling what to eat or how much. Instead we will work together to identify triggers, and find alternative ways for you to cope and to help re-establish a healthy relationship with food.
The Understanding your Eating Programme has been developed from research carried out by Julia Buckroyd, Emeritus Professor of Counselling of the University of Hertfordshire and Honorary Fellow of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. The Programme is designed for people who are aware that their overeating is driven by emotions rather than by hunger. Each session is 60 minutes.
Session 1 - Initial nutritional & emotional eating consultation
Session 2 – Eating is not just about hunger.
Session 3 – Eating to manage feelings
Session 4 – Self esteem and how it helps you look after yourself better
Session 5 – Improving body esteem
Session 6 – Using people instead of food to get you through your day
The course can be done on a one to one basis or in a group (dates to be announced). There will be an initial assessment to discuss whether this programme is right for you and whether you would prefer to be in a group or work on an individual basis. This is very much client-led and you can decide the frequency of sessions over a 12 week period, which we can discuss on our initial call.
